The Story

RescueRx was created with a clear purpose: to provide safe, responsible access to follow-up and interim prescriptions when convenience, timing, or temporary access issues make it difficult to reach a usual prescriber.

In recent years, digital and remote healthcare have become an established part of modern clinical practice, evolving rapidly since the COVID era and now embedded across both NHS and private sectors. Many patients with stable diagnoses and long-term treatment plans are well supported within the healthcare system, yet increasingly value the option of accessing private prescriptions digitally when it suits them. RescueRx offers an additional, optional prescribing pathway for adults who prefer secure online access, clear communication, and timely private prescriptions alongside their usual NHS GP care. The service is designed to complement existing healthcare provision, offering flexibility without disrupting established clinical relationships or continuity of care.

RescueRx supports continuity of treatment in a safe and structured way. Travel, work commitments, administrative delays, temporary appointment gaps, or simple practical inconvenience can leave patients unable to access medication when needed. For some, this may cause avoidable worry or disruption to ongoing therapy. The service helps reduce these risks by offering a clinically responsible option for short-term prescribing where appropriate, based on documented evidence of ongoing treatment.

Independent Prescribing Pharmacists play a well-established role in supporting patients across the NHS, including medication review, management of long-term conditions, and timely clinical decision-making. RescueRx is built on these same principles, delivered as an ad-hoc private service focused on continuity of care.

This service does not diagnose new conditions and does not replace a doctor.

 

Instead, it provides a continuation-of-care prescribing pathway for adults with an established diagnosis, a documented treatment history, and sufficient evidence of ongoing therapy. The aim is simple: safe, clinically justified prescribing when access to a usual prescriber is temporarily difficult.

Using secure digital systems, including Semble and SignatureRx, every request is reviewed and assessed directly by a qualified independent prescriber. Decisions remain personalised, transparent, and aligned with national guidance at all times.
